La fiesta de la Academia de Cine de Hollywood tuvo sorpresas y agresiones durante sus 94 Premios Oscars. La reunión del cine mundial que se celebró en el teatro Dolby de Los Ángeles destacó principalmente por un puñetazo que dio Will Smith a Chris Rock por hacer una broma sobre su mujer Jada.
Aunque hubo noticias felices para la comunidad sordo muda ya que el remake de la peli francesa ‘La familia Bélier’ ,CODA (Children Of Deaf Adults) se llevó el Oscar a la mejor película y el actor Troy Kotsur, obtuvo el premio a mejor actor secundario. También vencieron en mejor guion adaptado.

En tanto los españoles nominados no pudieron celebrar, salvo uno : el corto animado El limpiaparabrisas’, dirigido por Alberto Mielgo y producido por Leo Sánchez logró el premio Oscar por mejor corto animado . Por su parte, ni Javier Bardem ni Pe Cruz ni Alberto Iglesias lograron la estatuilla dorada.
En la categoría mejor actor ganó un sobreactuado Will Smith por ‘El método Williams’ (King Richard), en la categoría mejor actriz una Jessica Chastain llena de maquillaje celebró su primer Oscar por interpretar a la telepredicadora Tammy en Los ojos de Tammy Faye .
Ariana DeBose obtuvo el Oscar como mejor actriz de reparto por West Side Story. Este sería único premio del filme reboot realizado por Steven Spielberg
La japonesa Drive My Car venció en los Oscar 2002 al ser elegida la Mejor película de habla no inglesa. La historia esta basada en un relato corto de Haruki Murakami. Su director, Ryūsuke Hamaguchi, recogió el premio.
Por su parte, ‘El poder del perro’ de la directora Jane Campion fue premiado como mejor dirección. Dune de Villeneuve obtuvo seis Oscars por su excelente producción técnica: mejor fotografía, mejor edición, mejor efectos visuales, mejor BSO con Hans Zimmer, entre otros.
La película de animación Encanto, basada en la vida en pun pueblo colombiano, logró otro Oscar para Disney. Cruella celebró un galardón por su vestuario y el documental Summer of Soul ganó en el apartado mejor docs.
Finalmente como estadística, Steven Spielberg se convirtió en el primer profesional en la historia en recibir nominaciones a Mejor Director en 6 décadas distintas de los Oscars : 1978, 1982, 1999, 2006, 2013, 2022.
